Dayton Bombers Taken Down 3-0 by Cincinnati Cyclones on Cyclones Home Turf - AHL

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Cincinnati , OH - The Dayton Bombers were defeated by the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-0 at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati Ohio tonight.

Throughout the majority of the first period, the Bombers seemed to be outplaying the Cyclones, out shooting them 8-6 in the first. But the Cyclones and their quick strike offense put the Bombers down by two within a two minute span near the end of the period. Cincinnati scored an even strength goal at the 17:24 mark, then added the first of two power play goals with only: 18 seconds remaining at the 19:42 mark near the end of the first period. The Bombers trailed 2-0 after twenty minutes of play.

In the second period the Bombers continued their attack with a season high for shots on goal in a period with 13. Despite the relentless pressure on Cyclones starter Cedric Desjardins, the Bombers still could not find a way to get one by him. Rookie goaltender Dan LaCosta got his first career professional start for the Bombers and played very solid throughout the entire game. LaCosta came up with a number of big saves in the second period to keep the deficit to two, but the Cyclones would score their second power play goal of the night and increase their lead to 3-0 after 40 minutes of play.

Trailing by three, the Bombers made every effort they could to chip away at the lead. It was clear that the game was going to belong to Desjardins and the Cyclones did not make him do it on his own. Cincinnati not only blocked shots, but they ended up out shooting the Bombers 11-5 in the third period. The Bombers just did not have any chances to use their team speed through the middle and set up their forecheck. Dayton also had a couple of chances on the power play. A number of times they were able to set up screens in front of the Cincinnati and get deflections off shots from the point, unfortunately the deflections were either right at Desjardins or wide of the net. The Bombers out shot the Cyclones 27-24 despite the 3-0 loss on the road.
